"Incredible" Success for Labour Students at UMSU

In addition to the successes at mmunion we had fantastic success further down the road at the University of Manchester Students’ Union (UMSU).

Manchester Labour Students were part of “The Incredibles” campaign, led by our then Vice-Chair, Rob “Mr. Incredible” Pinfold. If you were around campus at any point during the days of polling I’m sure you would have seen many boxes, banners and posters, all the results of hours of work put in to promote the campaign, managed by the then Campaigns Officer, Mike Joslin.

Manchester Labour Students had candidates in several seats and we were successful in every seat that we had someone standing, including 3 people elected to the UMSU Executive next year: Jason Holloway (Postgraduate and Mature Students' Officer), Alex James (Humanities Faculty Officer) and of course Rob Pinfold (General Secretary).

One of our Ex-Chairs, Matt Strong, is off with Alan to work at Labour Students HQ after being elected at Labour Students Annual Conference. Matt has been an invaluable force in our club throughout his time in Manchester, this year’s UMSU electoral success has no-doubt benefitted from his experience, advice and hours of work that he has put in.

It is the best result we have had in years and it gives UMSU a real chance of change for the better, a real chance for an Incredible Students’ Union!
