11 members of Manchester Labour Students hopped on the train to Hyde last Friday to meet Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, James Purnell MP, in his constituency office.
We had an informal chat with James about the next general election, government policy and the upcoming Manchester Transport Investment Referendum. James also asked us about student politics in Manchester and the success of our Freshers’ Week.
We were grateful to James for taking time out of his very busy schedule as a Cabinet Minister to meet us.

Manchester Labour Students are planning more opportunities to meet Cabinet Ministers in this kind of setting so if you’re a member, look out for our next event!
