Good luck today for all Freshers-to-be!

So it's A-Level results day today, no doubt there are thousands of people not sleeping at all at the moment and others who are constantly refreshing UCAS Track to see if their firm offers have confirmed. I know I was...

For anyone with a Firm Offer from either University of Manchester or Manchester Metropolitan University (in particular those thinking of joining Manchester Labour Students next month) especially good luck to you!

If you have an Insurance Offer from one of the two and you find yourself using it, I'm sure once you get to Manchester, you'll never look back.

And if anyone has to go through the not-ideal process of clearing at the end of today if you find yourself in Manchester you'll be better off anyway!

We hope everyone enjoys the celebrations this evening and we look forward to seeing those turning up in Manchester in September during Freshers' Week.

Our New Political Events Officer

Manchester Labour Students has a new Political Events Officer! Danny Jackson rejoins the Committee in this role after having to previously step down as Secretary of the club when he went to study in Canada for his second Semester last year.

Danny has organised events in the past (including my personal favourite with Compass General Secretary, Gavin Hayes) and is really enthusiastic about the taking on this role.

I know he will be a well valued member of our Exec and I’m confident that he will be a great driver for our events schedule in the coming year.

I’m sure the whole Committee will join with me in saying: welcome back Danny!

(& clearly I felt the need to continue the hat theme in this blog post)

New MMU Club Chair

Luke Pollard has had to step down as Manchester Metropolitan Labour Club Chair. I’d like to thank him for all the work he has done for Manchester Labour Students and I’m sure he still will be involved with the club for years to come.

Coming in as the new MMU Chair is Lauren Day-Cooper (picture on left) who was previously MMU Secretary. Lauren has been really involved with Manchester Labour Students since she joined us last year and I know she’ll make an excellent Co-Chair so congratulations to her.

The Committee has a whole are currently busy making preparations for Freshers’ Week and hopefully we will be able to talk more about what we have in store soon.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and any Freshers-to-be aren’t too worried about impending exam results!
